Winter hiking is a quieter and less crowded time to visit the park compared to the busy summer season. You can enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness, unspoiled by large crowds, which allows for a deeper connection with nature and more peaceful hiking experiences.

When snow blankets the park, it becomes a paradise for snowshoers and cross-country skiers. There are designated trails suitable for usual skiing, snowboarding, tubing terrain, and an ice skating rink providing an excellent way to explore the pristine wilderness.

The park's scenic roads, like Newfound Gap Road and Cades Cove Loop Road, remain open during the winter. Driving through the snow-covered landscapes offers breathtaking views and photo opportunities.

Winter is an excellent time for wildlife enthusiasts. With fewer leaves on the trees, it's easier to spot wildlife such as deer, elk, and even black bears. Birdwatchers can also enjoy observing various bird species that stick around during the colder months.

Our host Scott was easy to reach and very helpful with all of our questions. He answered calls or texts at any time day or night, even when we forgot the code to get back in our first night. We would definitely stay here again and recommend Cloud Nine cabin to others!"
